#1 – Major Wins on the Wikipedia Front!

After months of persistent efforts, we’ve achieved two phenomenal victories: a senior U.S. official has accused the Wikimedia Foundation of spreading propaganda, and Dr. Shlomit Aharoni Lir’s proposal to establish a task force to oversee neutrality standards on Wikipedia has been accepted! This proves that when we act together, we can move mountains 💪🏻

#1 – Major Wins on the Wikipedia Front!
Publication date: 01.05.25
Our activity on Wikipedia is ongoing, and we still have many stones to turn before reaching the ultimate goal: transforming the platform into a neutral, fact-based space free from bias.
As we know, antisemites have become experts at distorting reality on Wikipedia. It’s the most widely used information platform in the world, the top Google result for nearly every term, with roughly 4 billion monthly visits. Search engines and AI tools rely heavily on it—and they’ve long understood that the battle against Israel and the Jewish people is primarily a war of perception, that could turn the world against us and normalize terrorism.
For instance, a recent discussion on the Wikipedia editors’ forum debated whether to omit the word “Hamas” from the article about the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel—thus distorting the truth and removing the fact that it was a coordinated assault by a terrorist organization on a sovereign state.
Though this battle often presents itself as pro-Palestinian, it brazenly undermines Palestinians too by erasing protests against Hamas in Gaza—solely to preserve a narrative that pins all blame on Israel.
For months, we’ve been exposing and raising awareness about case after case of manipulated facts and coordinated bias by antisemitic editors. These revelations reached Ed Martin, Attorney General of the District of Columbia in the U.S., who issued a firm letter to the Wikimedia Foundation holding them accountable for Wikipedia’s conduct and directly accusing them of spreading propaganda. This is a massive development—far beyond any pressure we’ve seen before. A senior U.S. official is demanding action, and the letter requires an immediate response from the Foundation, which means we might see significant changes in Wikipedia soon.
And that’s not all—the Wikimedia Foundation has accepted a proposal by our very own Dr. Shlomit Aharoni Lir from the WikiBias team to form a think tank dedicated to reviewing Wikipedia’s neutrality policies!
These changes are the result of the growing awareness we’ve all helped build—each of us, with just five seconds of effort: a share, a like, an email, following WikiBias updates. Every small action expands awareness of the crisis unfolding on Wikipedia and leads to meaningful shifts that ultimately shape global perceptions of Jews and Israel.
Our goal is not to skew the picture in Israel’s favor—but to restore Wikipedia as a neutral platform that presents facts about reality, not distortions driven by terrorist agendas. Remember: antisemitism is not innate—it takes root and flourishes in environments that nurture it.
